OOTD: Clueless

Thursday, 27 November 2014
Headband: Primark | Coat: Topshop | Top: Asos | Skirt: Missguided | Shoes: HIdden Fashion* | Ring: Accessorize

This week is busy, busy, busy! I've got loads of events to attend this week and have been running around trying to finish up my work and errands beforehand.

I wore this look to school the other day, and isn't that skirt just appropriate? Very Cher Horowitz from the movie Clueless, a modern take on my favourite Jane Austen novel, Emma. It's too bad I didn't dare wear my knee high socks out! But as you can see, the weather is still fairly tolerable so I've been able to go sleeveless with a coat thrown over to beat the cold. My chunky loafers completed my boarding school prep look, but truth be told they're a little big for me, even with insoles. I'm thinking of selling them off, any potential buyers out there? x

OOTD: Yule Ball

Monday, 24 November 2014
Dress: Jarlo | Clutch: Primark | Bracelet: boohoo | Choker: Dorothy Perkins*

It's officially party season! Last Saturday, I kicked things off with the Singapore Society's Annual Dinner & Dance held at the Palace Hotel here in Manchester. The games and photo booth were very Harry Potter-inspired, and the event was aptly named the Yule Ball.

Having been on the organising committee last year for the D&D, I was really excited to sit back and relax this time round, and I had a really great time! (Kudos to the outgoing committee, you guys did a great job.) My friends and I took multiple turns at the photo booth, plus lots of group shots with the various Christmas trees scattered around the hotel.

I went with red and gold for my very posh look (very Gryffindor, if I do say so myself). This Jarlo dress immediately caught my eye on the Asos site, and since it was so outstanding, I kept my make-up simple and swept my hair to the side for some old Hollywood glam. My accessories were also discreetly sparkly for that party vibe. I especially loved how my pearl choker from Dorothy Perkins, received at the Fashionchick blogger event, gave my outfit that extra retro 'oomph' - I received loads of compliments on it!

I had loads of trouble walking in my dress because of the train, and it certainly didn't help that it was raining - I had to struggle with an umbrella while holding up my train! But thankfully my outfit stayed pristine, phew.

I have loads of events to attend this upcoming week, I can't wait to keep dressing up, but I have to say this is my absolutely fave party outfit I've got planned. x

OOTD: Yes / No

Thursday, 20 November 2014
Coat: Village Boutique* | Dress: Asos | Clutch: Dorothy Perkins* | Boots: Asos | Necklace: Noviembre

I feel that I always try to take my outfit photos well - good lighting, cool location, etc. The odds were in my favour with this look, with the sun shining and a cool alley near my apartment. The temperature was even warm enough for bare legs, although halfway through this shoot it turned pretty grey and windy! (Major thanks to my friend Jeremy for doing me this huge favour!)

Like what I usually do, I built my look here around one item, namely the Yes / No clutch gifted at the recent Fashionchick blogger event (yes, everything I got was so wearable!). I love cute pieces like it (hence all the cutesy faces, urgh), they really can make an outfit. I decided to stick with the monochromatic theme but with a sixties twist, and matched a high neck shift dress with my go-to Asos boots.

I also wore out my brand new houndstooth print cardigan. You can't really tell, but it's got eyelash fluff and is super thick and cosy! It's a nice standout in a sea of black and brown coats this winter, and is still in stock over at Village Boutique, a Manchester-based store with online retailing, too. Do give them a look-see xx

OOTD: Faux Fur Scarf

Monday, 17 November 2014
Coat: Topshop | Dress: John Zack | Boots: Asos | Scarf: Dorothy Perkins* | Clutch: boohoo

I'm officially feeling like it's Christmas, what with the Manchester markets opening up last weekend! I popped by the Albert Square one on opening night, and immediately headed for my dutch mini pancakes slathered in Nutella - scrummy!

Despite the huge crowds, it was cold out. Luckily I had my brand new faux fur scarf kindly gifted by the Dorothy Perkins team at the Fashionchick event (read about it here). It's very on point for this season, I was actually contemplating buying a cheaper version over at Primark. Plus it looks quite classy, if I do say so myself, layered over my Topshop camel coat (which has been out of stock for ages, I kept checking the website and immediately snapped it up when it came back in stock). My look was completed with a cute collared dress by John Zack at only £10, and a handy rollover boohoo clutch for that effortless feel to a perfect night outfit!

Have you guys been to the markets yet? I'm definitely heading back for some jams and chutneys soon! x

#FashionablyFestive: Fashionchick Blogger Event

Saturday, 15 November 2014

I was kindly invited by Fashionchick UK to a #FashionablyFestive Christmas party the other night, where I caught up with a couple of other bloggers and made loads of new friends over champagne and canap├ęs.  The event was held at Epernay Champagne Bar, which is tucked away upstairs along a side road with plush sofas and a lovely classic vibe.

Dorothy Perkins and boohoo representatives were also present and armed with goodie bags and racks of clothing from their latest collections. I'm absolutely in love with this white faux fur crop jacket from DP, which I tried on last night and is now on sale. (I can almost hear it calling my name!) I was completely blown away by boohoo's #nightsbeforexmas collection as well, which comprises all things sequin and furry - check out the pink coat I'm wearing below!

OOTD: Mod Girl

Wednesday, 12 November 2014
Headband: Primark | Dress: Asos | Top: Missguided | Boots: Asos

Yup, I'm back to my signature 'cute as a button' vibe! The centrepiece of today's look is definitely this girly dress right out of the sixties, which I first saw while browsing the Asos 'Made in the Sixties' feature. It's made of a really gorgeous textured fabric, which I layered up with my versatile Missguided knit turtleneck since it was a little chilly. I accessorised with a Primark jewelled headband, which was a bargain for £5 - I feel like a princess in it! I wore this outfit to uni, but I think it would be great for a day in the city or something similar. What about you guys? x

OOTD: Colour Block

Sunday, 9 November 2014
Hat: Primark | Shirt: Mango | Dress: Asos | Socks: Asos | Boots: Asos

So guess who's down with the flu again? I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, to be honest, but I'm blaming it on the sudden cold front we've gotten up North.

I tried to brighten up my day with this colour clash, reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. It was a little silly of me to brave the weather in my condition in just knee-high socks, but I was so sick of tights! This limited edition hat from Primark kept me nice and toasty, though, and is so ladylike with a little jewel on its side. I also love how loud this Asos scuba shift is, and I can see myself taking it into the summer with other bold colours for more clash!

Take care of your health, everyone, I think I sound a bit like a frog now! x
